PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding door device suspendible only by an upper rail, in the freely expandable folding door device formed by collapsibly connecting a plurality of panels via joints. SOLUTION: This expandable folding door is suspended by the upper rail 12 fitted in a groove 11 formed on the lower side of a lintel 10 via sash pulleys 14, 14, etc. installed in an upper end central part of the respective panels 1a, 1b, etc. Gears 4a and 4b installed on the panels 1a and 1b are mutually meshed with the joints 2a and 2b for connecting the adjacent panels, by leaving clearance between the upper rail and a floor surface on the panel lower end.
