PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide stainless steel which has excellent durability by using an easily obtainable, inexpensive, safe pretreatment material and also using fluoroalkylsilane. SOLUTION: In the surface treatment method for stainless steel, as pretreatment, the surface of stainless steel is treated with water and is dried. Thereafter, the surface of the stainless steel is treated with fluoroalkylsilane, and a film having high water repellency/high oil repellency is formed on the surface of the stainless steel.
