PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact deterioration prevention system which can control generation of a coating between contacts. SOLUTION: Voltage drop of a switch 12 on the side of a break lamp 14 is monitored to determine contact status of both ends of an opposed contact switch which affects the brake lamp 14. When it is determined that the contact status is knife-edged, a lamp controller 18 reduces potential difference between the contacts to decrease arc discharge, and controls generation of a coating. In this manner, when sufficient voltage is applied between the contacts, the coating is easily broken and the brake lamp is stably lighted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
