PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor for monitoring NOx catalysts which can measure actual load degrees of a storage material and enable a quasi-linear control for NOx storage. SOLUTION: A sensor for monitoring NOx catalysts, which forms a sensitive element of the sensor includes a storage material for adsorbing NOx. The precise monitoring of the actual load degrees of the storage material enables a storage capacity to be used more efficiently, and the dimensions of a catalyst to be designed in a cost-effective manner.
