The purpose of the present invention is to provide a vacuum cleaner capable of easily being moved, wherein a suction force of a suction motor is able to be adjusted depending on a state of a floor. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a vacuum cleaner comprises: a main body of the cleaner; a suction motor arranged inside the main body of the cleaner to generate the suction force, generating a back-electromotive force; a suction part communicating with the main body of the cleaner, sucking air and dust via the suction force; and a controller to control the suction motor, having a reference current stored therein. The suction motor generates a first back-electromotive force if the suction part sucks on a wooden flooring, generating a second back-electromotive force smaller than the first electromotive force if the suction part sucks on a carpet. The controller maintains the suction force of the suction motor if the first back-electromotive force is detected, and increases the suction force of the suction motor if the second back-electromotive force is detected. |
