摘要 The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for controlling a radio frequency identification reader (RFID) through gesture recognition in a car-sharing vehicle, reducing power consumption of an RFID reader of a car-sharing vehicle through gesture recognition. The apparatus for controlling an RFID reader for a car-sharing vehicle, which comprises; an RFID reader; and a car-sharing service vehicle terminal comparing RFID card information scanned and read by the RFID reader with stored reservation information to authenticate a user and release a locked state of a door of the vehicle, comprises: a gesture sensor module part, and an RFID reader control part. The gesture sensor module part is installed adjacent to the RFID reader to detect a movement generated in the surroundings of the RFID reader and outputs a movement detection signal when a predefined movement of a user is recognized. The RFID reader control part is connected to each of the car-sharing service vehicle terminal and the gesture sensor module part and controls an operation of the RFID reader to check start-off of the vehicle through the car-sharing service vehicle terminal and whether a movement is detected by the gesture sensor module part. Therefore, battery consumption of the vehicle is reduced by allowing the RFID reader to be operated with low electric power while an authentication speed can be enhanced by allowing an RF signal to be transmitted as soon as an RFID card approaches.
