PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a first-in-first-out (FIFO) load instruction, which is a single instruction that performs data load, shift (i.e., alignment) and insert operations.SOLUTION: An instruction identifies a register 140 and a memory 102 location. Upon execution of the instruction by a processor, an item 150 is loaded from the memory location and a shift and insert operation is performed to shift data in the register and to insert the item into the register.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
