摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems that molten salt reactors using liquid fuel, though they are very safe atomic reactors susceptible to no such troubles as fuel destruction or steam explosion, involve maintenance problems of requiring precautions against primary system radiation and involving an enlarged radiation management area because their fuel itself moves in the primary system of the reactor.SOLUTION: Each individual fuel element can be properly managed by sealing liquid fuel in a fuel container instead of circulating it in the primary system, and also the problems ensuing from the movement of liquid fuel in the primary system can be solved. As a freeze seal is used when sealing liquid fuel into fuel containers, the liquid fuel is enabled to be drained into a bottle underneath because the freeze seal is melted by an emergency temperature rise, resulting in increased passive safety. Also, a structure allowing molten salt fuel in the fuel container to be put into or taken out of the reactor core makes possible direct control of the output by varying the fuel quantity, resulting in high flexibility to follow up load variations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
