PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-diffusing agent composed of resin particles obtained by polymerizing a vinyl monomer in an aqueous dispersion medium, wherein the light-diffusing agent causes very low yellowing of a light diffusion sheet when the sheet is formed and does not reduce total light transmittance of the sheet, and to provide a method for polymerizing resin particles which causes very low yellowing of a light diffusion sheet. SOLUTION: The light-diffusing agent comprises resin particles having a volume average particle size of 1-50μm obtained by polymerizing a vinyl monomer in an aqueous dispersion medium containing a carboxylic acid type anionic surfactant. The content of sulfur remaining in these resin particles is 0.01 pt.wt. or less based on 100 pts.wt. of the resin particles. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
