The present invention relates to a novel mesenchymal human progenitor (hB S- MP) cell population derived from human blastocyst-derived stem (hBS) cell s and the method to obtain the progenitor cell population in which is elimin ated the need of co-culture steps, cell sorting, manual selection, and trans fections. Furthermore, the present invention relates to the use of the hBS-M P cells in drug discovery and specifically for toxicity testings as well as for therapeutic use.
