<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device eliminating exchange (total replacement) of a currently used one to conserve environment and supplying optimum power to the light source to realize energy saving. <P>SOLUTION: The device includes a box-shaped fixture 1 with an opening 1a formed in one surface, a reflecting plate 2 disposed so as to close the opening 1a, a ballast 3 disposed within the fixture 1 and having an input power source line 3a and output power source lines 3b, 3c connected to an AC power source AC; a power source section 4 disposed within the fixture 1 and having an input power source line 4a and output power source lines 4b, 4c connected to the AC power source AC; a socket 5 exposed to the surface of the reflection plate 2 and connected to leading ends of the output power source lines 4b, 4c; a light source section 6 exposed to the surface of the reflecting plate 2 and having electrode terminals 6b, 6c equipped with light-emitting diode elements and attached to both ends of a cylindrical glass tube 6a, and adapters 7 disposed in between the electrode terminals 6b, 6c and the socket 5.
