<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems of conventional engines that necessity of securing a space to dispose a counter shaft and a pair of right/left counter pulleys and a space to wind a belt around a crank pulley and an input pulley via the counter pulleys restricts downsizing of a vehicle, and that necessity of winding the belt around the respective pulleys after mounting the engine to the vehicle makes the working efficiency poor. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The engine is equipped with a gear box 41 accommodating therein an input shaft 34 disposed in parallel with the crank shaft 24 below the crank shaft 24 for receiving power from the crank shaft 24 via a belt mechanism 33, a first output shaft 35 for outputting power from the input shaft 34 and disposed perpendicular to the crank shaft 24, and a bevel gear 36 for transmitting the power of the input shaft 34 to the first output shaft 35.
