<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet light absorbent, excellent in production adaptability in the case of kneading with a polymer or dissolving by using a solvent, not only improving the ultraviolet light durability of a co-used polymeric material, but also inhibiting the decomposition of another unstable compound by using the polymer material as an ultraviolet light filter, without having precipitation or bleed out, maintaining a long wavelength ultraviolet light absorbability for a long period of time and excellent in light fastness. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This ultraviolet light adsorbent consists of a compound expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, R<SP>11</SP>, R<SP>12</SP>are each independently a monovalent substituent; and A is a monovalent residue obtained by removing one hydrogen atom from a 5- or 6-membered aromatic heterocyclic ring which may have a substituent].
