<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying a carbon nanotube capable of effectively removing an especially graphitific carbon in the carbon nanotube. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The graphitic carbon is removed by reacting a metal nitrate 10 and the graphitific carbon in the carbon nanotube 30a by adhering the nitrate 10 of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal to the carbon nanotube 30 and heating the carbon nanotube 30a to which the metal nitrate is adhered in vacuum or an inert gas.
