Disclosed is an internet protocol television (IPTV) play control method, comprising: receiving a control message; if the control message belongs to a preset global message set, then responding to the control message; if the control message does not belong to the preset global massage set, then responding to the control message if the control message is determined to correspond to an acquired IPTV current state according to correspondences between the preset control messages and IPTV states.
