PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle which can improve the safety of the vehicle by automatically steer-controlling turning wheels of the vehicle which is stopped at a road shoulder of an express highway up to the vicinity of a steering end to a side opposite to a traveling lane.SOLUTION: When a vehicle 26 retreats to a road shoulder 27 of a highway road, and stops thereat, a steering wheel 12 may be steered straight (to a steering neutral position) in a forward direction, or to a traveling lane 28 direction at a right side. Here, a steering device 1 of the vehicle decides a steering amount of a steering wheel 2, performs automatic steering, and moves the steering wheel 12 to a left direction up to the vicinity of a steering end. By this constitution, when a vehicle collides with the vehicle 26 from a rear side, it is prevented that the vehicle 26 collides with a vehicle which is stopped frontward of the road shoulder 27, and the vehicle 26 collides with a succeeding vehicle which travels on the traveling lane 28 while jumping out to the traveling lane 28.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
