PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for avoiding physical-layer cell identifier (PCID) collisions, even if two neighboring base stations having different global cell identifiers (GCID) select the same PCID.SOLUTION: A base station uniquely identifies itself by transmitting, on a broadcast channel such as a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), a pattern of bits corresponding to the base station's GCID. Individual user equipment (UE) recognizes the PCID collision by decoding the PBCH payload to identify different GCID-modulated payloads from two base stations. The collision is detected by comparing a timing offset of the same wireless signal and an estimated channel delay. After detecting a PCID collision, the UE attempts by best effort to report the PCID collision, and reports at least to a neighbor base station. |
