PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform processing, such as the reproduction of content provided by a widget, in an image display device, such as a television receiver with a simple configuration. SOLUTION: The television receiver 250 receives the widget from a widget server 322, and transmits the URL information (content ID) of the prescribed content selected by a user and the control method information (control ID) from the content described in the widget and the control method to an STB 210. The STB 210 performs processing, such as the reproduction of the prescribed content, based on the information. The television receiver 250 receives image data corresponding to the prescribed content from the STB 210 to display the content (image, text, or the like) of the prescribed content when the control method is "reproduction" and "detailed display". The STB 210 undertakes processing, such as content reproduction, thereby achieving the reproduction, or the like of the content provided by the widget with a simple configuration by the television receiver 250.
