PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image scanner for preventing a read image on a first surface of a document from deteriorating in quality in duplex scanning. SOLUTION: In a scan mode using an automatic document feeder 35 for scanning, the document conveying speed in duplex scanning is set lower than in single-sided scanning. Accordingly, the quantity of light emission of an LED array 21 in the duplex scanning is reduced more than in the single-sided scanning. For example, the number of turned-on LEDs in an LED array 21, a voltage applied to the LEDs, or the lighting Duty of the LEDs in the duplex scanning is reduced more than in the single-sided scanning.
