<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing device with a prolongedservice life of a floating seal and a rotary shaft, by restraining abrasion of the floating seal and the rotary shaft. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This sealing device has the floating seal 12 arranged in a through-hole 2e of a wall body 2d partitioning a high pressure chamber 2a for introducing a working fluid and fitted around the rotary shaft 4 inserted into the through-hole 2e in a state followable to displacement of the rotary shaft 4, and seals the high pressure camber 2a by introducing a sealing fluid into a clearance between this floating seal 12 and an outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft 4. The rotary shaft 4 includes a jetting hole 4b opening on its outer peripheral surface and jetting the sealing fluid in a clearance between an inner peripheral surface of the floating seal 12 and the outer peripheral surface of the rotary shaft 4.
