PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption in a portable terminal device that is equipped with positioning means to measure the current position.SOLUTION: A portable terminal device carried by a user includes: positioning means that locates the current position of the portable terminal device; and a microprocessor that intermittently acquires the result of positioning from the positioning means. The microprocessor switches intervals between times to acquire the result of positioning from the positioning means in accordance with an attribute of the current position located by the positioning means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
