PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for properly controlling a dry strength to dry slurry coating liquid coated on a substrate.SOLUTION: A drier 3A dries a slurry coating liquid 41 coated on the one-side principal surface 51 of a substrate 5 being continuously carried. The drier 3A comprises: a heating part (a coating face side heating part 35 and a back side heating part 37) for the heat treatment of a coating liquid 41; a radiation thermometer 39 disposed at a position downstream of the heating part in the transportation direction, for measuring the temperature of a radiation factor unvaried portion 531 in the other side back 53, where the emissivity is not varied by the heating treatment at the substrate 5; and a heating control part 711 for controlling the intensity of the heat treatment by the heating part on the basis of the temperature which was measured by the radiation thermometer 39.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
