<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positive lithographic printing original plate capable of recording with high sensitivity and excellent in chemical resistance and printing durability. <P>SOLUTION: The lithographic printing original plate has on a support a positive recording layer containing (A) an alkali-soluble high-molecular compound having an alkali-soluble group bonded to a backbone through a linking group containing a 1-8C alkylene structure, and a cyclic structure originating in acetal of vinyl alcohol and, preferably, (B) an infrared absorbing agent.
