<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ink which exhibits excellent wettability, penetration property, and dispersibility to a base material during printing, can respond to high speed printing, and complies with the solubility into water and environmental problems; and to provide an additive added into the same. <P>SOLUTION: The additive for the ink contains (A) 10-90 mass% of one or more kinds selected from acetylene glycols and (B) 10-90 mass% of a sulfur-containing surfactant expressed by formula (5) (wherein, M is an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or an ammonium group; and R<SP>7</SP>is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group) and is characterized in that the contact angle of a 0.1 mass% aqueous additive solution is≤60°at 30 s after the solution is dropped and the dynamic surface tensions at 1 Hz and 10 Hz are each≤50 mN/m.
