PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device capable of creating a title of recorded contents to satisfy user's intention by a simple operation using video data. SOLUTION: In the DVD recorder 100, a receiving means receives content data containing video data, a recording means records the content data received by the reception means, a reproducing means reproduces the content data recorded by the recording means to display a video based on the video data on a display part 300a, a marking means marks the video displayed on the display part 300a during the reproduction of the content data by the reproducing means, an obtaining means obtains video data of the video marked by the marking means, and a creating means creates the title information of the content data recorded by the recording means on the basis of the video data obtained by the obtaining means.
