PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine a lifetime without separating an electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC) from capacitor-adapted equipment. SOLUTION: The EDLC 4 is connected to a DC load 1 via switches SW1, SW2. When the EDLC 4 has not deteriorated, SW2, SW4 are turned off and SW3 is turned on, thus obtaining an initial constant resistance discharge time T0 from the time when the EDLC that has been charged fully started to discharge electricity to the time when the terminal voltage of the EDLC drops to a set voltage. Then, also in the case of deterioration using the EDLC 4, an elapsed constant resistance discharge time T is obtained similarly. Then, a capacitance change rate (≈(T0-T)/T0) is obtained, thus determining the lifetime from the value. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
