PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a proton conductive membrane for realizing a direct alcohol type fuel cell with stable performance and with little methanol crossover.

SOLUTION: The proton conductive membrane is for a direct alcohol type fuel cell having a laminated structure composed of a complex thin-film layer consisting of a complex body of solid oxide and metal, and a polymer electrolyte layer arranged on its top face and bottom face. Here, the solid oxide is of at least a kind of element selected from a group consisting of Ti, Zr, Si, Sn, W, Mo, B, and P, and the metal is either Pd or an alloy of Pd and precious metal.
