PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a conventional technique when an object to be recognized has moved between an overlapped area and a non-overlapped area of photographed images photographed by a plurality of photographing apparatuses, in other words, when it has moved from the overlapped area to the non-overlapped area, accurate image processing cannot be performed. SOLUTION: A vehicle detection system includes: an input section for inputting an overlapped area and a non-overlapped area of a first area photographed by a first single-lens camera and a second area photographed by a second single-lens camera; a distance calculation section for recognizing another vehicle from an image within the overlapped area and calculating the distance between one's own vehicle and the other vehicle; and a tracking section which, when the other vehicle has moved from the overlapped area to the non-overlapped area, estimates the relative position of the other vehicle with respect to one's own vehicle on the basis of the distance calculated by the distance calculation section.
