Disclosed are an apparatus (1000) for vehicle classification and an apparatus for vehicle verification system (6000). The apparatus (1000) for vehicle classification may comprise a vehicle detector (10) that is used to detect a location of a vehicle in a received image; and a predictor (20) being in electrical communication with the detector (10) and predicting one or more attributes for the vehicle from image patches in the detected location. The predictor (20) has a convolutional neural network configured with one or more output layers, each of the output layers being differently trained such that each of the output layers is used to predict one attribute for the vehicle, and has a same size as a number of output categories for the vehicle. The apparatus for vehicle verification system (6000) may comprise a vehicle detector (60), a feature extractor (62) and a verification unit (64), and is used for verifying whether two vehicles from two images have the same attribute.
