The invention relates to a production method and to a security paper printing machine, having a printing unit (19; 23; 19'; 23') comprising at least one imaging cylinder (18, 22, 18', 22'), at the printing point (06; 07; 06'; 07') of which the printing point (06; 07), in sections of passing printing material (02) in a cycle (Z) of fixed cycle length (Lz) with respect to the printing material feed at the printing point (06; 07; 06'; 07'), can be printed with print images of a same print image length (l44). The invention further comprises a dryer device having a dryer (14, 16, 36), comprising a one or multi-part drying means (38) that in the printing material path is downstream of the printing point (06, 07, 06', 07'), by way of which printing materials (02) passing through the dryer (14, 16, 36) can be subjected to radiation for the purpose of drying the same. A control unit (37) is provided for controlling the drying means (38) of the dryer (14, 16, 36) with respect to activating and deactivating the same, which is in signal connection with a transmitter (42) providing signals (SK) representing the machine phase and/or the progress of the printing material, and which per cycle (Z) effectuates a switching on and off of, or at least part of, the drying means (38) after a sequence comprising at least one active and at least one inactive phase (PAN, PAB), in correlation with the position of the machine and/or printing material phase. |
