A rear-detection unit of a drive assist device 1 detects an adjacent rearward vehicle, which is a vehicle traveling in an adjacent lane that is adjacent to the host vehicle lane, and which is traveling behind the host vehicle. A control unit of the drive assist device 1 acquires following-vehicle information relating to a following vehicle, which is a vehicle that is traveling in the same lane as the host vehicle lane in which the host vehicle is travelling, and which is travelling behind the host vehicle (S120). The control unit acquires boundary line information, which represents the position of the boundary line dividing the host vehicle lane and the adjacent lane (S130). If a following vehicle is detected on the basis of the following-vehicle information (S125: YES), the control unit causes the host vehicle to travel nearer the boundary line on the basis of the boundary line information. |
