PROPOLIS EXTRACT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a propolis extract reduced in a specific curious odor and provide a method of its production and its use. SOLUTION: In this propolis extract, the content of bad smelling components which express relative retention time for p-ethylphenol in 0.7-0.8 and/or 1.2-1.3 are reduced in a gas chromatography using p-ethylphenol as an internal standard. The propolis extract is produced by impregnating the propolis in a hydrophilic organic solvent and extraction-treating the propolis to obtain a liquid phase which is treated by an anion exchange resin.
