PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having ACAT inhibitory activity by elucidating the essence of the activity of Ilex kudincha. SOLUTION: This new compound which is an ilekudinol compound such as ilekudinol A, a new triterpenoid, shown by the chemical structural formula, is obtained by purifying an extract from Ilex kudincha. This new compound is the active ingredient of Ilex kudincha, having excellent ACAT inhibitory activity. According to the present invention the above new compound having ACAT inhibitory activity can be found through elucidating the essence of the activity of Ilex kudincha. |
