The connecting system for a hydraulic hose (2) comprises a connector (1) with a nipple (3) over which the pipe fits and a press fitting (5) with internal teeth (9) which grip the outside of the hose. The fitting is compressed between the jaws (7) of a pressing tool whose drive (8) is controlled by a pressure gauge (11). This consists of a compressed air line (13) with air outlets (14) directed against the inner wall of the nipple and a pressure sensor.
