<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arpeggio generating system capable of generating an arpeggio data which is widely varied by utilizing user's performance, even when performance tones more than the number of kinds of key numbers of an arpeggio pattern data are input. <P>SOLUTION: When the arpeggio sound output pattern data including key numbers Key (e.g. 1 to 5) of a plurality of numbers Kn (e.g. 5) are selected and the performance tones (first to sixteenth tones) are input in the system, [1] in a first mode, when a tone pitch of an input performance tone is allocated to the key number Key of the pattern data, it is controlled so that the input performance tone (e.g. a sixth tone, if keys are pressed six times.) of a backward order must be allocated to the key number Key. Moreover, [2] in a second mode, the input performance tone is sequentially allocated to the key number Key of the pattern data, and all the backward order performance tones (e.g. sixth to sixteenth tones) which are not allocated are additionally allocated to any of the key number Key (e.g. 5).
