PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect duplicated addresses in address configuration of a plurality of switches in a multiplex transmission system. SOLUTION: In the multiplex transmission system, a parent device 1 outputs a signal included with a state display command to display the state of a switch 2 and an identifier of the switch 2. Each of terminals 3 switches operation modes between a normal operation mode in which control signals are received from the parent device 1 and loads are applied, and an inspection operation mode in which it is determined whether identifier configuration of the switch 2 is duplicated with other terminals 3. If the operation mode is switched to the inspection operation mode, the terminal 3 monitors signals ouputted from the parent device 1, and if a signal included with an identifier that is the same as the identifier of the switch 2, which is stored in the terminal 3, is detected, the terminal 3 determines that the stored identifier of the switch 2 is duplicated with a switch identifier stored in the other terminals 3.
