PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for spin-drawing a polyester monofilament having a small fineness to obtain polyester monofilament having a fineness of 4 to 6 dtex and having an extremely high fiber diameter uniformity, without developing print defects in being used for a high precision electronic board printing or graphic printing. SOLUTION: The method for spinning the polyester monofilament includes on melt-spinning the polyester monofilament having a fineness of 4 to 6 dtex, wherein the cooling air velocity Vc of chimney air satisfies the following formula (1): d×2.5-5≤Vc≤d×2.5+2, wherein d: the fineness (dtex) of the monofilament, Vc: thread-cooling air velocity (m/min), and at the same time, the blow down air velocity of an air flow flowing along the ejected thread from a spinneret to a taking out direction in a spinning duct, is set at 2 to 25 m/min.
