418,849. Attaching electric batteries to cycles. HUMPHRIES, E. H., Supreme Works, Warwick Road, Greet, Birmingham. July 31, 1933, No. 21454. [Class 136 (i).] Means for attaching an electric storage battery to a motor or other cycle comprises a bracket having pivoted side arms for engaging the bolts on or associated with the battery case, one or either of such arms being adapted to be swung aside to allow the battery to be swung about one of the bolts, in order to facilitate access to the filling plugs or terminals. As shown in rear elevation in Fig. 3 and plan in Fig. 4, the bracket a comprises a plate formed with side lugs b to which are pivoted arms c recessed at the outer ends to engage the fixing bolts d, so that one of the arms can be released, by disengaging a nut p, to enable the battery to be swung out about the bolt engaging the other arm. The bracket a is secured to a tubular member s of the cycle frame by means of an attachment plate q (with projections t), clips r, and bolts u, the latter passing through arcuate slots w in the plate q to permit angular adjustment according to the inclination of the frame member s. The battery case e is mounted on a holder comprising a lower sheet-metal part f and an upper sheet-metal part g adapted to hold the lid j of the battery case in position. The bolts d pass through lugs k on the part g, lugs h and bosses i on the part f, and through rubber cushion blocks l. |
