PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an imaging lens that achieves reduction in the diameter of a first lens group, reduction in the size of a second lens group regarded as a focusing lens group, and reduction in aberration fluctuation in association with focusing and that has excellent optical characteristics; and an imaging device to which the imaging lens is applied.SOLUTION: An imaging lens substantially comprises, in order from an object side; a first lens group G1 having positive refractive power; a second lens group G2 having negative refractive power; and a third lens group G3 having positive refractive power. An aperture diaphragm St is included closer to the object side than the second lens group G2. The first lens group G1 has two or more positive lenses and one or more negative lenses. The second lens group G2 is substantially composed of one positive lens and one negative lens. The third lens group G3 has two or more positive lenses and two or more negative lenses that include one or more cemented lenses.
