PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide water-soluble polymer intermediates that may form covalent bonds with pharmaceutical active principles in order to improve water solubility of low-water solubility pharmaceutical active principles, particularly taxoids.SOLUTION: The invention provides a polymer compound represented by formula (III).
