The image processing section (204) is configured so as to create intermediate data of a predetermined darkness level, and: creates, on the basis of an image signal of a first reference plate and a second reference plate which are arranged at different positions from one another in a sub-scanning direction, said intermediate data at each of said positions; creates first and second black correction data on the basis of the respective intermediate data; creates, on the basis of both the black correction data, black correction data corresponding to the sub-scanning direction; and performs shading correction by using the black correction data at each position in the sub-scanning direction.
