A travelling service unit re-starts the spinning process after an end break and returns the repaired yarn to the yarn traverse guide of the wind-up. To prevent premature engagement with the moving traverse, the yarn is lifted by an arm (40) parallel to the traverse and dropped into the traverse guide at the correctly timed moment. The arm (40) can be actuated by a pneumatic cylinder (55). Alternatively it can be driven mechanically through cams from the central cam drives of the service unit or electrically with a stepping motor.
