PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support apparatus and method preventing the running status of a vehicle from worsening so that the driver of one's own vehicle and the driver of another vehicle have the same recognition about the behavior of the one's own vehicle to avoid an obstacle. SOLUTION: In the driving support apparatus 1, an avoidance behavior calculating part 22 calculates avoidance behavior for avoiding contact with a detected obstacle. A presenting part 30 presents the driver of the one's own vehicle and the driver of another vehicle with information about the avoidance behavior calculated. Thus, both of the drivers recognize the avoidance behavior and have the same recognition. In this way, the drivers of both vehicles have the same recognition about the behavior of the one's own vehicle to avoid the obstacle, to prevent the running status of the vehicle from worsening.
