PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently back up user data that exit in various sizes in order to enhance performance regarding a storage system. SOLUTION: When a data sending/receiving part 140a obtains user data from a host computer, a data recording apparatus 100 causes an MRB setting process part 140b to refer to an RLU information terminal table 130a and an OLU information terminal table 130b to detect an MRB capable of storing user data on a first storage. The user data is recorded in the MRB detected. A backup process part 140c records in a second storage for each MRB the user data recorded in the first storage and no longer used.
