SEAL STRUCTURE FOR COUPLING ZONE BETWEEN CONSTANT VELOCITY JOINT AND HUB BEARING UNIT OF AUTOMATIC VEHICLE WHEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure reliable high-density seal to an interface zone between a constant velocity joint and a hub bearing unit.

SOLUTION: One end of a resilient sleeve (31) is fitted on a tubular projection (22) of a bell of the constant velocity joint. The sleeve covers a radial slot (27) formed in the projection and arms (29) of a spring locking ring (24) for axially removably securing the joint bell (20) to a toothed driving ring (18) fixed to a rotatable hub (10). The other end of the elastic sleeve (31) has a radially inwardly projecting flange (35). This flange is axially clamped to a rigid and annular part (14) which is fixed to or integrated with the hub (10) in a sealed state by contacting with the part.
