PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check whether a display device normally functions or not and to report, when it is in an abnormal state, the effect to a host device. SOLUTION: The display device comprises a display panel having a plurality of sub-pixels, a drive circuit for inputting driving voltage to the plurality of sub-pixels, and a display control device for controlling and driving the drive circuit, in which display data are input to the display control device from a host device, and the display data have an error detection code. The display control device includes an error detection circuit for detecting error of the display data input from the host device based on the error detection code added to the display data, and the error detection circuit reports, upon detection of error of the display data input from the host device, the error detection to the host device.
