PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recorder capable of preventing degradation of image quality by properly setting a carriage moving direction on ejecting ink. SOLUTION: The velocity features of the carriage 38 performing its forward and backward movements can be obtained (S30) by test-driving (S20) the carriage 38. From the velocity features velocity Vc in the horizontal direction portion when the ink droplets are ejected is calculated as a prediction value (S60). From the velocity Vc, a flying distance D and an amount of shiftΔD in landing position of a nozzle row for magenta 40M and a nozzle row for yellow 40Y in the horizontal direction, are calculated (S70), and the shift amountsΔDf andΔDr are added in absolute value to calculate the evaluation values Ef and Er (S80). An average value [Ef], [Er] of the calculated evaluation values is evaluated for forward and backward movements (S100).
