PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus allowing not only for power saving but also preventing a recording medium from falling off or shifting in position while waiting for recording a second side of the recording medium. SOLUTION: When a recording sheet 103 arrives at a drying standby 1 or a drying standby 2 in order for the recording sheet 103 with the front side (the first side) already recorded to be dried before its unrecorded back side (the second side) to undergo recording, the image recording apparatus enters a power saving mode for interrupting power supply to various sensors and motors. Further, even if power supply is interrupted to a first roller 45, in moving to the power saving mode, the recording sheet 103 is held between the first roller 45 and a second roller 46 and is supported from below by a paper-discharge tray 21. Accordingly, the recording sheet 103 is prevented from falling off and from shifting in position, and power-saving can be realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
