PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a correction table generating method and image processing apparatus in which processing can be accelerated by improving efficiency of processing for calculating a correction table for correcting variations of a printing head. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a head ID acquisition unit 55 for acquiring a head ID 100 indicating ink discharge characteristics of an ink jet head; a calculation result table generating unit 56 for generating a calculation result table 120 indicating a calculation result for each type of a calculation expression for calculating a correction value while taking into account the discharge characteristics of the head; and a correction table generating unit 57 which acquires the correction value by referring to a calculation method determination table and the calculation result table 120 for each of a plurality of output setting items for ink discharging and generates a correction table 130 wherein output setting and a correction value are made corresponding.
