A mold and a control method thereof are provided to shorten the heating and cooling cycle time by making a cooling unit, in which coolant flows in cooling cycle, empty during heating cycle. A mold comprises a molding member(5) which includes a hollow hole(5a) in which a material(1) is inserted and is installed in a fixed mold(3), a cooling unit(9) which is formed in the molding member so that coolant flows along the inner side of a molding surface(5b), and a heating unit(8) using high frequency induction by a heating coil(8a) and provided around the cooling unit. The cooling unit allows the flow of coolant during cooling cycle, but discharges the coolant after ejecting a molded product and maintains the hollow state during heating cycle.
